Nokia Lumia 620 Hands on Review.

I got a Nokia Lumia 620 unit last week and decided to write an in-depth Lumia 620 review Hands on for it listing all its Pros and cons and help future buyers in selecting the best Phone for their Budget and discuss whether or not this Phone lives up to its specifications and Brand name. This Budget Phone was Nokia's first offering in this Price segment from its Windows Phone 8 Stable. So, now without wasting any more time lets jump into this...

Design and Body Build :

The device is 127 grams and it feels like you have a Good Phone in your hand not like some cheap plastic bodies with flat surfaces, The surface is rubbery to touch and is comfortable to hold in your hand, but scratches on its backside may look bad with that kind of Material, it looks smaller than it is actually because of the clean curved edges. The TFT capacitive Touch screen is more on the wider side as opposed to slightly longer screen profile of Lumia 520, the back panel is clean with a speaker hole in the bottom corner and the Camera Module at Middle of back panel is not protruded out much so its safe from scratches when placed on its Back. Ports are placed rather practically with the 3.5mm Audio jack on upper side and charging and USB ports at Bottom. The right side of body has a Camera button and Volume control keys which are in Black color so they add to its good looks considerably.

Display :

Lumia 620 comes with a 3.7 inch screen that sports a 480 x 800 Pixels display with a ppi density of 246 and no Physical  Buttons on screen give it a pretty nice finish. Reading in Sunlight is hassle free because of Nokia's exclusive Clearblack display.

Camera :

The 5 Megapixel Camera with LED flash is decent and works very well in low light conditions. Also the Secondary camera which is VGA is okay to some extent, the Video quality is quite decent too and records  720p videos at a rate of 30 fps. As Nokia is known for its camera quality this device gives us another reason to trust them in this department. Like Lumia's higher end versions like 720 and 920 it doesn't have Carl Zeiss optics but still it works like a charm in Daylight conditions and quite satisfactory in Low light conditions. And Nokia lenses application makes it even better and gives a better Photography experience .

Operating System :

The Collaboration between Microsoft and Nokia has brought to us the most chiseled of Mobile Operating System i.e the Windows Phone 8 OS. There is no lag in Normal operation of this device and also unlike Android OS it doesn't drain battery quickly and all applications work smooth on such a modest hardware .Another plus point we get with this device is the future updates and the sync with our Windows services (Even the Desktop Ones) at one go.

Hardware and Gaming Performance :

Hardware is pretty decent, and to top it there is No lag at such configuration is what makes it worth it. A built in chip-set Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 and a CPU with Dual core 1 GHz Krait Processor with Adreno 305 GPU, Gaming is good too , recently this Device got Temple run and Jetpack Joyride which ran pretty much smooth in our trials. also we tried Dredd vs Zombies and it ran without a single glitch. But Asphalt 7 ran slower and gave random lags so it got a little disappointment there. But all over it is quite good and effective. Windows Phone Store got a good number of games now, including high end games like N.O.V.A. 3.

Audio and Call Quality :

The Call are Crystal clear with no audible Noise and sound reception is good too thanks to the well placed receiver for Voice. The speaker is placed at bottom left of phone for music and it is very good. Also the device comes with Dolby Digital Sound support which makes Nokia music more awesome.

Battery life and Performance :

This Device comes with a Removable Li-Ion 1300 mAh battery and it gives you 18 hours of usage in Normal usage. And on heavy use it doesn't disappoint you and still stands on for like 10 hours, If you don’t play much games in the meantime and performs well in talk time.

User Interface :

Metro/Modern UI is quite simple and very smooth like Butter, so the device got Windows Phone 8 UI aka Metro UI and looks fast. The only disappointment is the Task manager which is still not very user friendly, but in the future updates hopefully it’ll be better. And Lumia 620 will also get the future versions of Windows updates unlike its predecessors. The Facebook and Email integration in Windows Phone OS is also fine and makes it so much easier because all your contacts come at one place.
The phone still runs only Internet explorer, no other browser is supported but that is just fine because it is sufficient and bug free in this OS. Multitasking is good but we still miss some things in it. But over all it works fine, no codec or layout bugs like its Desktop browsers.

Conclusion :

Lumia 620 is worth every single penny you spend on it. As far as windows phone is a concern, but we shouldn't be worrying about that, Nokia is optimistic about this Platform and will continue to give timely Updates to it in the Near Future too. And also windows is actually giving a close competition to other OS’es as well because of recent updates and upgrades in the store and and hopefully they will all support and work flawless on this phone. The Body and Build gives a premium feel to this Phone while holding it, The Camera is acceptable for this Budget, with a Secondary camera for video calling which is rarely seen in good Budget Phones, The UI is Flawless and Smooth and defies its Budget Phone Tag with Aplomb and blows the Competition to smithereens with total Lag-Free Performance which we get used to while using Budget Phones these days (Read Android...), Jokes apart its a must buy from us with a Tight Budget and looking to Flaunts a Quirky and Colorful Phone, but if you Can just Increase the Budget you may want to look at its Bigger sibling i.e. the Lumia 720.
